Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool RN requiring 2 years of Peds ICU experience and SC or Compact RN licensure to float across pediatric critical care units.

Details

• Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position at a children's hospital
• Float RN will work across all pediatric units including CVPICU, NICU, and PICU
• Day shift schedule: 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, 36 hours/week
• Patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:3
• Required to work every other weekend with holiday rotation
• Uses Epic EMR system
• Block scheduling may be accommodated pending manager approval and unit needs

Requirements

• Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of Pediatric ICU experience required
• BLS and PALS certifications required (AHA only)
• ECMO and CRRT experience preferred
• Experience with medications including anti-seizure meds, continuous sedation, and IV vasopressors
• Pediatric dosage calculation skills required
• Respiratory skills required: BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care, acute airway care/maintenance, and ABG interpretation
• Skills in chest tube management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line and PICC line care required
• ICP monitoring experience required
• Knowledge of dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
• Infection control and isolation precautions/PPE competency required
• Social Security Number and Driver's License required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing support across multiple pediatric units based on facility needs
• First-time travelers with the required Peds ICU experience will be considered
• Candidates must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility to be prioritized; local candidates considered case-by-case
• Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• All requested time off must be submitted at time of consideration for approval based on unit needs
• Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June through November, with peak activity in August and September), all staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
• Non-billable onboarding modules average 4 hours and must be completed prior to start
