Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring telemetry competency and a NE or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in a 55-bed Progressive Care Unit (Stepdown level of care) within an acute care, Level 1 trauma hospital
  • Adult patient population with rare pediatric cases (15 and older)
  • RN to patient ratio of 1:4 for both day and night shifts
  • Common diagnoses include CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, COVID, subdural hematoma, and weakness
  • Common medications/drips include PCA pumps, cardizem, and insulin
  • Uses EPIC EMR and Alaris IV pumps
  • Mechanical lifts available in every other room
  • 12-hour night shifts (1830-0630)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating required, ideally to Medical-Surgical areas based on highest need
  • Supported by nursing assistants, charge nurses, educators, care managers, social workers, dietitians, PT, and OT

Requirements

  • Active NE state or Compact (NLC) RN license required at time of consideration
  • Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Telemetry competency required
  • BSN not required for this position
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Manage daily patient care responsibilities on a tight-knit, collaborative unit
  • Focus on hourly rounding and patient responsiveness
  • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Must pass a pass/fail open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, verified by driver's license
  • Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year
  • Candidates previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
