Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a PCU Oncology unit requiring 1-2 years of experience and a compact or Nebraska RN license.

Details

  • Acute care Level 1 trauma hospital setting on an 18-bed PCU Oncology unit (5 North)
  • Cares for adult oncology PCU and trauma PCU patients
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-1:5 on both day and night shifts
  • Uses Epic EMR and Alaris IV pumps
  • 12-hour night shifts, alternating 0630a-7:00p and 0630p-7:00a
  • Every other weekend required
  • Self-scheduling that balances with unit needs
  • Floats to other Med/Surg and PCU units at the same level of care
  • Two days of unit orientation provided

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Nebraska or Compact/NLC) required at time of submission; pending licenses not accepted
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required
  • ONS/ONCC certification preferred but not required
  • Minimum 1-2 years of RN experience required
  • Oncology experience preferred; strong PCU experience considered
  • Occasionally titrates Insulin and Cardizem drips
  • Comfortable managing chemotherapy, Heparin, Cardizem, and Protonix medications
  • Experience with high-flow respiratory equipment
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provides direct care including hourly rounding and bedside shift report
  • Works alongside Nursing Assistants, Charge Nurse, PT/OT, RN Case Manager, Social Worker, Educator, and Dietitian
  • Cares for a diverse oncology patient population from diagnosis through remission or end-of-life care
  • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas
  • Must pass a pass/fail open-book exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
  • First-time travelers are accepted
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, verified by driver's license
  • Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year
