Description

American Traveler is hiring a PCU RN for a float pool position requiring telemetry and progressive care experience with both Kansas and Missouri or compact RN licensure in hand.

Details

  • Float pool position within Med/Surg Intermediate and PCU departments, with floating across approximately 5 units and other metro campuses as needed
  • No assigned home unit
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-7:15)
  • Weekend requirement of 8 shifts within a 6-week schedule, combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday
  • Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments may be required
  • No on-call requirement
  • Not open to block scheduling
  • Utilizes Virtual Nursing support, 12 lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, and Omnicell systems

Requirements

  • Active RN license - Kansas and Missouri or compact license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and NIHSS certification required; ACLS preferred
  • 1-2 years of recent experience required, with a full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gaps greater than 90 days
  • Required skills: MS/Tele, Telemetry, Cardiac Telemetry, and Neuro Stepdown experience
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and on-unit telemetry monitoring
  • Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization patients
  • Experience managing sepsis, wound care, ETOH, SI, renal failure, AFIB, GIB, stroke, and COVID patients
  • Preferred skills: sheath removal, feeding tube care and management, port access, blood product administration, and central line care/management
  • 2 professional references required, one from a supervisor or above and the second from a charge RN, both from within the past year

Additional Information

  • Deliver telemetry and progressive care nursing to a diverse patient population including cardiac, neuro, and stroke cases
  • Floating across multiple units and campuses is required, and unwillingness to float may result in cancellation
  • Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be considered, as local candidates are not accepted
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days permitted
  • Returning staff must have a minimum 3-month break in service after 18 months of prior assignment
  • Former permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Facility may extend an offer without requiring an interview
