Description

American Traveler is hiring a PCU RN for a float pool position requiring KS or compact licensure and 2 years of recent telemetry/PCU experience.

Details

  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) float pool position with no assigned home unit
  • Floats among roughly 5 Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU departments and across other metro campuses as needed
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours, 18:45-07:15
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • Weekend requirement of 8 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule, combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday
  • Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments as needed per unit
  • No on-call requirements
  • Cares for patients with cardiac telemetry, neuro stepdown, sepsis, wound care, ETOH, suicidal ideation, renal failure, AFIB, GIB, stroke, and COVID conditions
  • Performs cardiac monitoring including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Manages pre/post cardiac catheterization patients
  • Uses 12-lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, and Omnicell systems
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active KS or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Must also hold Missouri or compact license in hand due to float requirements across departments, units and facilities
  • Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
  • 2 years of recent in-specialty experience required, including a full year within the past 12 months with no employment gaps greater than 90 days
  • Experience in MS/Tele, Cardiac Telemetry, and Neuro Stepdown settings required
  • Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy required
  • Experience with port access/management, blood product administration, and central line care preferred
  • Sheath removal and feeding tube care/management skills preferred
  • Charge RN experience preferred
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor-level and one charge RN, both from within the past year
  • SSN required for consideration
  • RTO and scheduling requests must be finalized at time of consideration

Additional Information

  • Provides direct patient care across multiple PCU and Med/Surg Intermediate units as part of a float pool team
  • Willingness to float between departments, units, and facilities is mandatory; unwillingness will result in cancellation
  • Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates within this radius are not accepted
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days permitted
  • Staff with 18 months of tenure and a 3-month break in service may be considered for return; permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • No travel partners accepted
  • Compliance documents due 2 Fridays before start date, with required EMR training modules completed prior to start
