Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring NE or compact RN licensure and titratable drip management skills.

Details

  • Work in the PCU (stepdown) unit of a Level 2 trauma acute care hospital
  • 35-bed unit caring for adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, nephrology, stroke, and diabetes diagnoses
  • Includes continuous EEG monitoring for select patients
  • Patient ratios of 1:4-5
  • RNs are required to titrate drips including Cardizem, beta blockers, and seizure medications
  • Charge Nurse present on each shift
  • Nurse aides/patient care techs available at 1:10 or 2:20 ratios
  • 12-hour night shifts, scheduled 0630-1900 or 1830-0700
  • Every other weekend and every third holiday required
  • No call or standby requirements
  • Floating required to Medical floors, ICU, or rehab
  • Uses EPIC EMR
  • Unit-specific orientation includes onboarding week plus 1-2 days on the floor

Requirements

  • Active NE or Compact RN license currently in hand
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Current certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS
  • BSN not required for this position
  • Experience with titratable drips and cardiac/stroke patient care preferred
  • Driver's license required at time of consideration to confirm permanent residence
  • Must pass a Pass/Fail skills exam (90% required) during orientation

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care on a fast-paced stepdown unit, managing titratable drips and continuous EEG monitoring
  • Success on this unit is supported by a positive attitude, strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Artificial fingernails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply may result in contract termination
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, and driver's license will be used to verify permanent address
  • Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year
  • Up to 7 days of RTO must be requested upfront for the 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved after submission
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
