Description

American Traveler is hiring a Progressive Care Unit RN for a night shift stroke and telemetry unit requiring NIHSS certification and at least 1 year of specialty experience.

Details

• Work on a 16-bed Stroke & Brain progressive care unit within a hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 4:1
• Unit staffed with tech support
• Uses Welch Allyn vital sign machines, Hoyer lift, Sara Steady lift, telemetry monitors, bladder scanner, and Doppler equipment
• Charts using Meditech documentation system
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Scheduled for 3 shifts per week including 3-4 weekend shifts per schedule
• May float to other areas where competency has been demonstrated
• Cares for telemetry and stroke/neurology patients, including cardiac drip management

Requirements

• Active RN license (Missouri or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in telemetry, stroke, or neurology specialty required
• Experience with cardiac drips and basic dysrhythmia recognition required
• No employment gaps of 90+ days or more within the past 12 months
• Two professional references required for Missouri assignments
• US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration (no Canadian SSN accepted)

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for stroke and telemetry patients, including cardiac drip administration and monitoring
• Navy blue scrubs required as part of unit dress code
• High employee engagement reported on the unit
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates not accepted
• First-time travelers may be considered
