Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position caring for acute leukemia and hematology patients, requiring an Ohio or compact RN license and 2 years of acute care experience.

Details

• PCU unit specializing in acute leukemia and hematology care
• Patient population includes newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients, primarily adults and geriatrics
• Staffing ratio goal of 1:4, with up to 1:5 possible
• 12-hour rotating day/night shifts (7:00-19:30 or 19:00-7:30)
• Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on staffing needs
• Variable weekend requirements based on unit needs
• Uses Epic for computerized charting
• No chemo certification required

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS and ONS Chemo certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of current acute care nursing experience within the last 12 months
• At least 1 year of PCU experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers may be screened for consideration
• Epic charting experience required
• Skills required: telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care, peripheral line management, feeding tube care, and use of Rapid Response Teams
• Oncology experience preferred; training provided for oncology patients
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor; charge RN acceptable for second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

• Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls prevention
• Provide direct nursing care with emphasis on cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process promptly after signing contract
• Candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to a fingerprinting location; those farther away will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
• Former employees eligible for travel assignments after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees are ineligible to work as travelers at this health system
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• RTO must be submitted with the initial contract request and is limited to 7 days or less
• First-time travelers will be considered for this role
