Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a MS/Telemetry Progressive Care Unit position requiring an OH or compact RN license and previous telemetry experience.

Details

  • MS/Tele Progressive Care Unit within a correctional healthcare setting requiring Corrections Officer access to enter the locked unit
  • Patient population includes active oncology diagnoses (solid tumor and hematology) as well as non-oncology admissions such as surgical, COPD, sepsis, pneumonia, and abnormal labs cases
  • Rotating Day/Night schedule (3x12 hours), with the same shift held for 4 weeks before rotating to the opposite shift
  • 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend required (Friday and Saturday)
  • Floating required within OSU

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Previous telemetry experience required
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols and insulin drips required
  • Strong cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management skills required
  • Skills in use of Rapid Response/Code teams, IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, and non-invasive airway management required
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and emergency response care within a correctional healthcare unit
  • Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, peripheral line care, and respiratory support including oxygen administration and non-invasive airway management
  • Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols as needed
  • Candidates with only 1 year of experience require manager review prior to offer
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
  • Former employees eligible for assignment after 6 months away from the facility
  • Current OSU hospital employees are ineligible for traveler roles
  • RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Candidates must promptly complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements upon signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
