Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) days position requiring a compact or OH RN license and at least 1 year of PCU experience.

Details

• Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown) of a hospital setting
• Patient population includes telemetry, neurological/psychiatric, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and plastics cases
• Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM), 36 hours per week
• Floating required within OSU

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS
• Minimum 1 year of PCU/relevant nursing experience required
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, starting and maintaining IVs, nasal cannula and oxygen administration, PCA management, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, and total joint replacement care
• Preferred skills include arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, ABG interpretation, oxygen tank management, tracheostomy care, feeding tube management, heparin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip management, insulin protocols and titration, ortho trauma, and wound care/wound vac
• 2 professional references required, at least one from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role, second reference may be from a Charge RN, no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for progressive/stepdown level acuity patients including telemetry, neuro, and post-surgical cases
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply, though candidates with only 1 year of experience may require additional manager review before an offer is made
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Former employees eligible for a travel assignment only after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at this health system
• RTO must be submitted and built into the contract prior to start, limited to 7 days or less
• Ohio fingerprinting is required promptly after signing the contract, and candidates should be prepared to complete this urgently, including travel to a fingerprinting location if needed
