Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit night shift position requiring telemetry experience and an OH or compact RN license.

Details

• PCU unit within a corrections unit housing Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections (ODRC) inmates
• Unit is locked and requires access from a Corrections Officer (CO) to enter
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-7:30, 36 hours/week
• Every other weekend required (Friday and Saturday nights)
• Floating required within OSU
• Patient population includes active oncology diagnoses (solid tumor and hematology), oncology workups, and patients with cancer history admitted for other conditions such as surgical procedures, COPD, sepsis, abnormal labs, and pneumonia
• Epic charting system preferred

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Previous telemetry experience required
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and insulin drips required
• Strong cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management skills required
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management
• Experience with oxygen administration and nasal cannula use
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or formal leadership role; charge RN acceptable for second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response as part of daily duties
• Utilize rapid response/code teams as needed
• Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process promptly upon signing contract, including travel to an in-state fingerprinting location or completing a mailed fingerprinting packet if located far from Ohio
• RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current OSU hospital employees are not eligible to be hired as travelers at any OSU hospital location
• First-time travelers are considered for this role
