Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit position requiring stepdown and telemetry experience.

Details

  • Cardiovascular Progressive Care (CVPC) unit within a Heart Tower
  • Primary patient population includes CV and vascular surgery cases such as CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR, thoracic lung surgery, esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair (open and endovascular), fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomies
  • Also receives overflow medical cardiology patients with heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block
  • 40-bed cardiac surgery stepdown unit staffed with charge RNs, RNs, PCTs, and HUCs
  • Patient ratio of 1:5 for RNs and 1:13 for PCTs
  • Uses Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and various lifts
  • Charts in Cerner EMR
  • Shift runs 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
  • No on-call requirements
  • Weekend requirement of a minimum 6 shifts (Saturday/Sunday day/night) per 6-week schedule
  • Floating required to stepdown units (1:5 ratio), medical-surgical units (1:6-7 ratio), or the ER inpatient holding area (1:6 ratio)

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Stepdown experience required
  • Telemetry experience required
  • Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery population experience within the past year preferred (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass)
  • CVICU experience preferred
  • Experience with epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, IV glucommander, and cardiac drip management (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine) preferred
  • US SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

  • Provide direct patient care to cardiac and vascular surgery patients in a fast-paced stepdown environment
  • Flexible to work holidays
  • Team-oriented environment requiring flexibility and strong collaboration skills
  • Dress code requires all navy scrubs, white top with navy bottoms, or all white attire
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for consideration
