Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit position requiring stepdown and telemetry experience along with a NC or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPC) of a hospital's Heart Tower
  • Primary patient population includes CV surgery and vascular surgery patients (CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR), thoracic surgery (lobectomy, thoracotomy), esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair, and fem-pop bypass, with overflow medical cardiology patients
  • 40-bed cardiac surgery stepdown unit staffed with charge RN, RNs, PCTs, and HUC support
  • Patient ratio of 1:5 for RNs and 1:13 for PCTs
  • Uses Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and various lift equipment
  • Charts in Cerner EMR
  • Night shift position, 6:45 PM-7:15 AM
  • No on-call requirements
  • Minimum of 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday day/night) required per 6-week schedule period
  • Floating required to any Stepdown (1:5 ratio) or Med-Surg (1:6-7 ratio) unit, or ER inpatient holding area (1:6)

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or compact) currently in hand
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Stepdown experience required
  • Telemetry experience required
  • Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery population experience (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass) within the past year preferred
  • CVICU experience preferred
  • US SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • No gaps in work history equaling 90 days or more in the past 12 months

  • Best suited for team players who are flexible and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Dress code requires all navy scrubs, white tops with navy bottoms, or all white attire
  • Flexible to work holidays
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates will be considered
