Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a community hospital, requiring 2 years of specialty experience and MO or compact RN license in hand.

Details

  • Work in the MS/Tele unit (PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown) of a 240-bed community hospital with a 16-bed ICU
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (6:45 AM-7:15 PM)
  • Weekend requirement of 8 shifts within a 6-week schedule period, combination of Fri/Sat/Sun
  • Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments as needed per unit
  • Regular floating required between departments, units and facilities as needed
  • No on-call requirements
  • EPIC charting system used
  • Special equipment includes telemetry monitoring

Requirements

  • Active RN license, Missouri and Kansas or compact license required in hand
  • Current certifications: BLS and NIHSS required; ACLS and CPI preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience with no employment gaps greater than 90 days in the past year
  • Community hospital experience required
  • Previous charge experience preferred
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Skills required: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, use of rapid response/code teams
  • Cardiovascular skills required: post cardiac angiogram, post MI, pre/post cardiac cath care (sheath removal preferred)
  • GI skills required: feeding tube care and management
  • Renal skills required: pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure care
  • IV therapy/phlebotomy skills required: blood product administration, central line care, peripheral line care, PICC line management, starting IVs (port access and phlebotomy preferred)
  • Medication management skills required: heparin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration), PCA
  • Neurological skills required: CVA care
  • Respiratory skills required: chest tube management, CPAP/BIPAP, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, nasal cannula, oxygen administration, non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy care
  • Additional skills required: isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac
  • Orthopedic experience with total joint replacements preferred
  • Two professional references required, one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN, both from within the past year
