Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring telemetry and PCU/neuro stepdown experience along with BLS certification.

Details

  • 13-week assignment in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within a Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma teaching hospital
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • RN to patient ratio of 1:3-4
  • Every other weekend required, but not guaranteed
  • May float within scope to meet facility needs, including to a nearby affiliated hospital
  • Uses Epic for charting
  • 36 guaranteed hours per week

Requirements

  • Active or pending Oregon RN license accepted; emergency license also accepted
  • BLS certification required through AHA
  • ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of experience within the last 3 years in MS/Tele/PCU
  • PCU and neuro stepdown experience with NIHSS certification preferred
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Skilled in telemetry monitoring, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and dysrhythmia management
  • Experience with non-invasive airway management and peripheral line care
  • Experience with cardiac drips such as nitro, Cardizem, amiodarone, and Nicardipine
  • Rapid response team activation experience required
  • Isolation precaution and PPE knowledge required

  • Unit is a Joint Commission-certified Primary Stroke Center and Spine Center of Excellence
  • Staff receive training in NIHSS, swallow screen, and spine immobilization
  • Works closely with a dedicated Stroke Navigator
  • Scrub color is royal blue
  • Free parking available onsite
  • Floating may be required to a nearby affiliated hospital approximately 15 minutes away
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
  • Local candidates are accepted
  • Requests for time off exceeding 2 weeks require approval
  • Former employees of the health system are ineligible for 6 months after termination
  • Block scheduling is not accommodated
