Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) telemetry position requiring 1 year of MS/Tele/PCU experience and an active or pending Oregon RN license.

Details

  • 13-week assignment on a Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma teaching hospital's IMCU
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
  • RN to patient ratio of 1:3-4
  • Cares for patients with acute/chronic respiratory failure, sepsis, kidney failure, metabolic encephalopathy, DKA, A Fib, heart failure, GI bleed, NSTEMI, unstable angina, and drug overdose
  • Unit serves as overflow for CVCU, including post-ablation, post-pacer, and post-angiogram patients
  • Sheath credentialing not required, though familiarity is helpful
  • Uses Epic for charting
  • Required to work every other weekend
  • Floating required within the facility or to nearby West Valley Hospital
  • Facility may cancel up to 3 shifts over the 13-week assignment

Requirements

  • Active or pending OR RN license required
  • BLS certification required (AHA preferred); ACLS preferred
  • 1 year of experience within the last 3 years in MS/Tele/PCU required
  • Telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation experience required
  • Experience managing dysrhythmias and cardiac drips (nitro, Cardizem, amiodarone, Nicardipine, etc.)
  • IV start and peripheral line care/management experience required
  • Non-invasive airway management and O2 protocol experience required
  • Isolation precautions/PPE experience required
  • Rapid response team activation experience required
  • Computerized documentation experience required, Epic experience required
  • Conscious sedation and ventilator management experience preferred

  • Provide holistic care to a diverse patient population with multiple comorbidities
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support patients through their hospital stay
  • Unit has received the Gold Beacon Award from the AACN
  • Royal blue scrub color required
  • RTO must be finalized at time of consideration; requests exceeding 2 weeks require approval
  • Block scheduling is not accommodated
  • Local candidates accepted
  • Former Salem Health employees must wait six months from termination date before being eligible for assignment
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
