Description

American Traveler is hiring a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) RN for a night shift assignment requiring at least 1 year of PCU/telemetry experience and cardiac drip titration skills.

Details

  • Work in a Neuro/Stroke PCU floor caring for respiratory, cardiac, and mixed medical patients
  • 36-bed unit with an average daily census of 30 and a 1:4 patient ratio
  • Care for a patient population ranging from adolescents to geriatrics
  • Continuous telemetry monitoring with titration of cardiac drips required
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
  • Every other weekend shift required unless specified otherwise
  • Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
  • No call requirements
  • No block scheduling or alternate shift requests permitted
  • Unit systems include Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR

Requirements

  • Active GA or Compact RN license required
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • Skills required include respiratory management (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy care), IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and titration of cardiac and insulin drips required
  • Experience with neurological conditions such as CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, and traumatic brain injury required
  • First-time travelers are accepted for this role

Additional Information

  • Provide continuous telemetry monitoring and manage patients requiring cardiac drip titration and respiratory support
  • Utilize rapid response/code teams for cardiac emergencies
  • Manage isolation precautions and PPE protocols as needed
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Maximum of 7 days RTO per contract, finalized at time of submission
  • No RTO permitted during orientation week
  • RTO blackout dates apply during Spring Break (April 4th-12th)
  • Holiday coverage required based on the number of major holidays falling within the assignment period (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day)
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • Previous Piedmont employees (perm, per diem, or FCSS) must be away from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler
  • Travelers previously unable to complete an assignment at a Piedmont facility must complete one successful assignment elsewhere before reapplying
