PCU Travel Nurse Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland or a valid compact RN license
  • At least 2 years of recent PCU, progressive care, IMC, stepdown, or telemetry nursing experience, including experience caring for patients with congestive heart failure
  • At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Recent experience with Cerner clinical documentation
  • Strong cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation skills
  • Ability to complete required clinical screening, orientation, and unit-specific learning modules within designated timeframes
  • Flu vaccination required; exemptions are not accepted for this assignment
  • Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment

PCU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with advanced heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, COPD, acute myocardial infarction, stable angina, chronic renal failure, pneumonia, and post-PCI needs
  • Continuously monitor cardiac telemetry and accurately interpret and manage dysrhythmias
  • Care for patients before and after cardiac catheterization and myocardial infarction
  • Manage heparin, insulin, vasoactive, inotropic, continuous diuretic, and other cardiac infusions according to protocol
  • Provide care for patients receiving ultrafiltration, hemodialysis, CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and other advanced therapies
  • Perform central-line, PICC, port, peripheral-line, feeding-tube, tracheostomy, chest-tube, wound, and wound-vac care
  • Administer blood products and obtain laboratory specimens through appropriate phlebotomy techniques
  • Recognize changes in patient condition, initiate appropriate interventions, and collaborate with rapid response and interdisciplinary care teams
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in Cerner
  • Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, IV services, rehabilitation, radiology, social services, and other care partners to support positive patient outcomes
