Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced PCU RN for a night shift position requiring Epic experience and active FL or compact licensure.

Details

  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown) setting with cardiac telemetry, MS/Tele, neuro stepdown, and ER holding patient populations
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 6 total weekend shifts per 6-week period
  • Float requirement to other units or sister facilities within the health system
  • No on-call requirements
  • Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed

Requirements

  • Active FL or compact RN license required at time of consideration (pending licenses not accepted)
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; CPI preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required
  • Epic charting system experience required; Allscripts experience also required
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
  • Travel experience required
  • Skills required include IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, cardiac and vasoactive drip management, telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation, BiPAP/CPAP and chest tube management, wound care, and pre/post cardiac catheterization and surgery care
  • Two professional references from a Manager, Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Director dated within the past year required for consideration
  • Flu vaccine required between 10/31-3/31 with medical or religious exemptions only

Additional Information

  • Provide care for cardiac, neurological, and stepdown patients requiring close monitoring and intervention
  • Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, IV insulin protocols, wound care, and pre/post procedural care for cardiac and renal patients
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers with no radius restriction
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
  • Former Health First employees or contracted staff must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler
  • Candidates must be available to complete required lab work within 72 hours of signing
  • Orientation includes completion of annual training modules tracked through the facility's learning management system
  • Scrubs of any color are accepted, but top and bottom colors must match with no logos or prints
  • Holiday and hurricane coverage requirements apply
  • Travel pairs are permitted with unit leader approval, though matching schedules are not guaranteed
