Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring active FL or compact RN license and EPIC experience.

Details

  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting including Cardiac Telemetry, MS/Tele, Neuro Stepdown, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-07:00
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period
  • Float requirement to home base unit or other units/locations within the health system
  • No on-call requirements
  • Contracted hours guaranteed
  • Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed

Requirements

  • Active FL or compact RN license required at time of consideration (no pending licenses accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
  • EPIC charting system experience required
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
  • Travel nursing experience required
  • Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, ABG interpretation, cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management, and wound care
  • Two supervisory references (Manager, Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Director) dated within the past year required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide nursing care for cardiac, neurological, gastrointestinal, and renal patient populations in a progressive care setting
  • Responsibilities include cardiac drip management (no titration), insulin protocols, hemodialysis management, and use of rapid response/code teams
  • Flu vaccine required between 10/31-3/31 with medical or religious exemptions only
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
  • Former Health First employees or contract staff must wait at least one year before returning as a traveler
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same travel rate with no radius restriction
  • Travel pairs permitted with unit leader approval, though matching schedules are not guaranteed
  • Scrubs may be any color but must have matching top and bottom colors with no logos or prints
  • RTO requests must be submitted at time of consideration and are reviewed during the interview process
