Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Stepdown position requiring 2 years of recent progressive care experience and an active Ohio or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work on a 32-bed Mixed Acuity Stepdown/PCU unit with an average daily census of 25-32 patients
  • Care for patients with various medical diagnoses as well as pre- and post-surgical patients with mixed, PCU-level acuity
  • Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 3x12-hour shifts
  • 36 hours per week with every other weekend required
  • Float required within the OSU organization as needed
  • Call required
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active Ohio or compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of submission
  • Minimum 2 years of recent progressive care experience required
  • Experience with similar PCU/Stepdown patient populations required
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Experience with telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, rapid response/code teams, IV therapy, blood product administration, central line and PICC care, heparin protocols, respiratory support, wound care, and pre/post-surgical patient care preferred
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role; Charge RN acceptable for second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

  • One pre-approved time-off request allowed per contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Scrub color and details provided at orientation
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible to be hired as a traveler
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict credentialing timelines
