Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of recent Registered Nurse (RN) experience, preferably in PCU, stepdown, intermediate care, or Medical-Surgical settings
• Previous travel nursing experience required; PCU or acute-care travel RN experience strongly preferred
• Active Registered Nurse license in hand before the start date
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Epic electronic health record charting experience strongly preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Ability to care for adult and geriatric patients with medical-surgical and progressive-care needs
• Strong telemetry assessment, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and critical-thinking skills
• Flu vaccination required; medical or religious exemptions may be considered
• Ability to complete required compliance and laboratory items within designated timelines

PCU Float Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care for PCU, stepdown, and Medical-Surgical patients
• Assess patients, recognize changes in condition, and initiate timely interventions or escalation of care
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, interpret dysrhythmias, and manage patients requiring telemetry
• Administer medications and therapies, including non-titrated cardiac and vasoactive drips, insulin protocols, heparin protocols, and thrombolytic agents as ordered
• Care for patients with cardiac, neurologic, respiratory, renal, surgical, and complex medical conditions
• Manage central lines, PICC lines, ports, chest tubes, surgical drains, tracheostomies, feeding tubes, urinary irrigation, wound vacs, and peripheral IV access
• Provide respiratory support and monitoring, including oxygen therapy, high-flow nasal cannula, and BiPAP/CPAP management
• Complete pre- and post-procedure care for cardiac catheterization, cardiac angiography, cardiac surgery, hemodialysis, and other complex treatments
• Collaborate with physicians, rapid response teams, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, social services, and interpretation services
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in Epic
• Float between assigned units as needed while maintaining high standards of patient care and teamwork
