Description

American Traveler is hiring a PCU/Cardiac Telemetry RN with cardiac tele or PCU experience for a community teaching hospital, requiring NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Cardiac Telemetry/PCU unit in a community-based teaching hospital with 18 beds and an average daily census of 18
  • Cares for general medical and surgical patients with NSTEMI, STEMI, cardiac interventional procedures, EP procedures, thoracic surgery, heart failure, and post-stroke conditions
  • Manages patients requiring pharmacological titration of cardiac anti-arrhythmic drips, arterial lines, chest tubes/drains, and post-procedure site care
  • RN to patient ratio of 1:3 or 1:4 depending on interventions, with CNA support
  • 12-hour day shift schedule (0700-1900), 36 hours per week
  • EOW (every other weekend) rotation required
  • No on-call or call-back requirements
  • Floating required within all IMC and med-surg units, max 4 patients
  • Uses EPIC EMR, Philips Intellivue monitors, Baxter IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of Cardiac Telemetry or PCU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Skilled in cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, rhythm interpretation, arterial line management, drip titration, and non-invasive ventilator care
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within one year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
  • Last 4 of SSN and full DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Responsible for continuous cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation for assigned patients
  • Supported by Rapid Response Team, 24/7 Respiratory Therapy, 24/7 Hospitalist coverage, and Charge Nurse acting as resource
  • Orientation includes a 36-hour first week covering NTO and online CBL modules, plus a 12-hour unit-specific shift with an RN preceptor
  • Royal blue scrubs required with free on-site parking available
  • Unit culture is described as positive, team-focused, and high-tech, high-touch
  • Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius to be considered, as local candidates are not accepted
  • Returning employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
