Description

American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN for a Level I Trauma Center requiring at least one year of critical care or Level I Trauma PACU experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

  • Level I Trauma Center PACU setting recovering surgical patients from GU, GYN, colorectal, minimally invasive, bariatric, and some ENT procedures
  • Separate Pre/Post IR procedure area included in unit responsibilities
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Day shift schedule, Monday-Friday, 4x10 hours with start times of 0800 or 1000 as needed
  • On-call requirement of 24 hours per 6-week schedule period as needed
  • No weekend requirements
  • Floating required within service line to meet facility needs
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active MO or compact RN license required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of critical care/ICU experience or Level I Trauma Center PACU experience required
  • Proficiency managing complex postoperative patients including multiple drains, vasoactive drips, mechanical ventilation, and general anesthesia recovery
  • Skills required in respiratory care, ventilated patient care, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia recognition/management
  • IV therapy and phlebotomy skills including starting and maintaining IVs
  • Pre/Post op patient care experience including pre-op assessment, education, and medication administration
  • Must pass Relias EKG exam covering interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Epic charting experience required

Additional Information

  • Recover complex postoperative surgical patients in a Level I Trauma PACU environment
  • May manage multiple complex patients even when receiving patients in pre-op
  • First-time travelers are accepted for this position
  • Navy scrubs required
  • No more than 7 days of RTO permitted, with none allowed during the first week of the assignment
  • Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
  • Returning permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
  • Standard travelers may stay up to 18 months and must take a 3-month break in service afterward
  • Facial hair must allow for proper respirator fit testing or must be shaved
