Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PACU RN for a Level III trauma center, requiring 2+ years of PACU experience across a wide range of surgical specialties including pediatric recovery.

Details

  • Inpatient Phase I PACU and Pedi PACU setting within a Level III Trauma Center
  • Day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, working 5x8 hour shifts
  • Two shift options available: 8:00am-4:30pm or 9:00am-5:30pm
  • Call requirements apply
  • Assists with coverage in Pre-Op as needed
  • Recovers a wide range of surgical cases including ortho, neuro, general, urology, dental, GYN, and pediatric ENT (T&A, BMT, etc)
  • Monitors patients with nerve blocks, chest tube insertions, central lines, intubation, and A-lines
  • 1:2 patient ratio experience required

Requirements

  • Active TX or compact RN license required
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of PACU experience preferred, covering all surgeries except cardiac
  • Pediatric recovery experience required
  • Critical care experience strongly preferred
  • Level II trauma center experience preferred
  • Cerner charting experience preferred
  • Experience with arterial line management, dysrhythmia recognition, cardiac monitoring, and central line care
  • Experience administering procedural sedation and monitoring conscious sedation, general, local, MAC, nerve block, and spinal anesthesia types
  • Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
  • Experience managing ventilated patients and airway placement
  • Pain assessment and PCA pump management experience
  • Ability to interpret and communicate lab values
  • Experience with isolation precautions and PPE protocols

Additional Information

  • Care for a diverse surgical population including bariatric, ENT, general, GYN, neuro, ortho, urology, and plastics patients
  • Perform pre- and post-operative care including obtaining consents, reviewing history and physical, and administering pre-op medications
  • Provide cardiovascular care including cardiac arrest response and CPR as needed
  • Manage orthopedic post-op care including circulation checks and monitoring for ORIF and total joint replacement patients
  • On-site drug screen required upon arrival, including testing for marijuana; a positive result results in automatic cancellation
  • RTO must be submitted with the application, and some holiday coverage is expected
  • Pending license accepted with application but must be active before the start date
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates are not accepted
  • First-time travelers may be considered if they have strong relevant experience
