Description

American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN for a Level II Trauma Center, requiring at least 1 year of PACU experience and a WA or compact RN license in hand.

Details

• PACU unit within a Level II Trauma Center following ASPAN standards
• Cares for pediatric (1yo+), adult, and geriatric patients across same-day surgery, in-patient, and observation cases
• Supports a wide range of surgical specialties including vascular, general, orthopedic, pediatric, urology, gynecology, neuro/spine, podiatry, ophthalmology, thoracic, trauma, bariatric, ENT, oral, plastics, cardiovascular, and interventional radiology
• Day shift schedule of 4x10-hour shifts (10:30 AM - 9:00 PM)
• No weekend or call requirements
• Floating required, including between sister facilities near the contracted location
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of PACU experience required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with pre/post-op care, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition, and pain assessment/management
• Familiarity with conscious sedation, general, local, MAC, and nerve block anesthesia types preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition
• Experience with pacemaker insertion and pre/post cath lab or IR procedures preferred
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive pre- and post-operative care including patient assessment, education, and discharge instructions
• Administer medications including narcotics/opioid analgesics and reversal agents as needed
• Perform medication reconciliation and obtain operative/procedural consents
• Review patient history and physical prior to procedures
• Any scrub color accepted except reddish orange
• Parking costs covered by the facility
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront; minimal RTO preferred for this position
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates are not accepted; must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must live outside a 50-mile radius
