Description

American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN for a Level II Trauma Center, requiring at least 1 year of PACU experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the PACU unit following ASPAN standards at a Level II Trauma Center
  • Patient population includes pediatric (1yo+), adult, and geriatric patients
  • Care for same-day surgery, inpatient, and observation patients
  • Surgical specialties include vascular, general, orthopedic, pediatric, urology, gynecology, neuro/spine, podiatry, ophthalmology, thoracic, trauma, bariatric, ENT, oral, plastics, cardiovascular lab, and interventional radiology
  • 4x10 evening shift schedule (10:30 AM - 9:00 PM)
  • No weekend requirements
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required, including to sister facilities near the contracted facility
  • EPIC charting system used

Requirements

  • Active WA state or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of PACU experience required
  • EPIC experience preferred
  • Experience with pre/post-op care, phase II recovery, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia recognition/management
  • Experience with conscious sedation, general, local, and MAC anesthesia types
  • Experience with pain assessment and management
  • Experience obtaining operative/procedural consent, performing pre-op assessments and education
  • Experience reviewing history and physical, medication reconciliation, and discharge instructions
  • Experience starting and maintaining IVs
  • Preferred experience with 12 lead EKG/ECG, pre/post cath lab and IR procedures, and pacemaker insertion
  • Prior charge experience preferred
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required

Additional Information

  • Provide pre and post-operative nursing care across a wide range of surgical specialties
  • Facility does not accept candidates with Nursys or background check hits
  • Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and cannot live within 50 miles of the facility
  • Must respond to a disclosure question regarding any prior work history at a Providence facility as permanent staff, traveler, or per-diem/registry
  • Any scrub color accepted except reddish orange
  • Parking is facility paid
  • Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • RTO requests must be submitted upfront during the application process, with limited flexibility for changes after offer
  • First-time travelers are accepted for this position
  • Local candidates are not accepted unless within a 50 mile radius, and may be considered at a lower bill rate
