Orthopedic Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit Information

This position is available in an Orthopedic unit that comprises:

• Number of Beds: 44
• Typical Staff: Varies based on census; approximately 10-11 patients per charge nurse and Patient Care Technician (PCT)
• Patient Ratios: 1:5 RN during day and night shifts, with a maximum of 1:6
• Type of Equipment: Mobility lifts, chest tubes, Hemavac drains, wound vacs, JP drains, PCA, and Foley catheters
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Meditech

Job Responsibilities

As an Orthopedic Registered Nurse, your duties will include but are not limited to:

• Providing direct patient care for orthopedic patients
• Managing patient assessments, implementing nursing interventions, and evaluating patient outcomes
• Assisting in various procedures such as drain removal and PICC line placements with the infusion team
• Administering medications and treatments as prescribed
• Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Required:
• • Current BLS certification
  • A minimum of 1 year of recent acute care hospital experience in Orthopedics
• Preferred:
• • Background in Orthopedics/Trauma
  • Experience in Medical/Surgical nursing is also acceptable
