Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg-Ortho RN for a Level 1 Trauma hospital unit requiring Epic charting experience and IL licensure.

Details

• Inpatient Orthopedics and Medical/Surgical unit within a Level 1 Trauma hospital
• 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM, three days per week
• 6 weekend shifts required within a 6-week period
• Rotating holiday coverage required
• No on-call requirements
• Will float to similar units
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience required
• ASN required, BSN preferred
• Level 1 Trauma experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Skilled in wound appliance management, traction setup, surgical traction device manipulation, medication management, care transition planning, and delegation

Additional Information

• Perform initial patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care for ortho and med/surg patients
• Educate patients on wound care, mobility, self-care, medication management, and care transition needs
• Coordinate patient care with physicians and surgeons
• Delegate and monitor interventions performed by HCT staff
• Set up orthopedic traction and manipulate surgical traction devices for mobility and wound care needs
• Manage wound appliances including wound vacs, drains, pouches, and urological devices
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
• Workers may not remain on assignment for more than 1 year without a 6-month break in service before returning
