Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN for a Level I Trauma acute care hospital, requiring trauma, neuro, vascular, and ortho surgical experience.

Details

• Work in the Operating Room department of an acute care hospital with 277 staffed beds
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 18:45-7:15)
• May need to cover one additional night shift within the contract as needed
• Weekend requirement
• On-call requirement with call distributed equally among nursing staff every 6 weeks, up to 6-8 shifts in that period including nights, evenings, and weekends
• Floating required between like units and potentially sister facilities
• Uses Epic charting system
• Scrubs provided for OR/Endo/L&D/PACU

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required (compact license must be in hand at time of consideration)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum of 2 years of OR nursing experience required (3 years preferred, 5 years ideal)
• Trauma Level I experience required
• Travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Experience in vascular, neurology, orthopedic, general surgery, and trauma procedures required
• Experience with procedures such as craniotomy, spinal fusion, laminectomy/discectomy, hernia repair, and trauma cases (gunshot/stab wounds, MVA, amputations)
• Familiarity with electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, and emergency management protocols (code response, fire safety, malignant hyperthermia)
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide surgical nursing care across a wide range of specialties including vascular, gynecology, plastics, neurology, orthopedics, general surgery, urology, ENT, bariatrics, and thoracic procedures
• Perform universal protocol (time-out) procedures, specimen handling/labeling, and administration of blood and blood products
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• RTO requests must be submitted upfront at time of consideration; post-offer RTO requests may not be accommodated
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted, with a 50-mile local radius rule applying to bill rate
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must be outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Candidates must disclose any prior work history at Providence facilities as permanent staff, travelers, or per-diem/registry
• Free parking provided
• Refusal to float may result in termination of assignment
