Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN for a 13-week Days assignment requiring 24 months of OR experience and a Level II trauma background.

Details

  • Operating Room unit within a Level I trauma center with 16 OR suites, typically running 12-14 concurrently
  • 16-bed OR with 1:1 patient ratios and average caseload of 35-50 cases per day
  • Turnover expectation of less than 20 minutes between cases
  • Service lines include Cardiac/PV, Neuro, Orthopedics (primarily trauma), Robotics, GYN, Urology, General, Pediatrics, Transplants, ENT, and Plastics
  • Uses 3 DaVinci robots, Stealth technology for Neuro navigation, and Synthes/Stryker for ortho trauma
  • Days shift, 3x12s, 6:30a-7p, including Saturday and Sunday with rotating Friday or Monday shifts
  • Weekend on-call coverage runs from end of shift Friday until 6:30am Monday
  • No on-call requirements outside of scheduled weekend coverage
  • Float requirement across Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist campuses
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active IA RN license or compact/multistate license required
  • Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
  • Minimum 24 months of current Operating Room experience required, with hospital/medical center experience prioritized
  • Circulating experience required; scrub experience highly preferred
  • Required case experience: General, DaVinci Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma
  • Highly preferred case experience: Neurology, Orthopedics (primarily trauma), GYN, Urology, Transplants, Plastics, ENT, and Vascular
  • Epic EMR experience within the previous 3 years required
  • Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience highly preferred
  • Must have completed a prior travel assignment within the last 15 months
  • Driver's license required for consideration
  • Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months preferred

Additional Information

  • Scrub or circulate responsibilities, with both being preferred
  • Scrubs provided
  • Required to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed
  • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be considered
  • Prior UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN float pool) may be restricted from travel assignments in other markets under the system's separation policy
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
