Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN for a Level II trauma center in Des Moines, requiring 24 months of current OR circulating experience and prior travel assignment history.

Details

  • Operating Room unit within a Level I/II trauma center with 16 OR suites, typically running 12-14 rooms
  • Handles an average of 35-50 cases per day with a turnover expectation of less than 20 minutes
  • Service lines include Cardiac/PV, Neuro, Ortho (primarily trauma), Robotics, GYN, Uro, General, Pediatrics, Transplants, ENT, and Plastics
  • Uses 3 DaVinci robots, Stealth Neuro navigation technology, and Synthes or Stryker for ortho trauma cases
  • Both scrub and circulating duties preferred
  • Patient ratio of 1:1
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12s from 6:30a-7p, Monday through Friday
  • Required to work up to every 4th weekend (Fri/Sat/Sun or Sat/Sun/Mon)
  • On-call requirements include up to 1 overnight per week and 3 weekends per 13-week contract, running from end of shift Friday until 6:30am Monday
  • Float requirement across Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist campuses
  • Uses Epic EMR
  • 36 hours per week, 13-week assignment

Requirements

  • Active IA or compact/multistate RN license required
  • Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
  • Minimum 24 months of current Operating Room experience required, hospital/medical center experience prioritized
  • Circulating OR experience required; scrub experience highly preferred
  • Required case experience: General, DaVinci Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma
  • Additional experience in Neurology, Orthopedics (trauma), GYN, Urology, Transplants, Plastics, ENT, or Vascular highly preferred
  • Epic EMR experience within the previous 3 years required
  • Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience highly preferred
  • Must have completed at least one travel assignment within the previous 15 months; first-time travelers not considered
  • Valid driver's license required for consideration
  • Supervisory performance evaluation or reference from within 24 months preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide circulating and/or scrub support across a high-volume, high-acuity trauma OR
  • Scrubs provided
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
  • Required to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed
  • Past UPH employees (FTE or PRN float pool) are ineligible to work travel assignments at any UPH market facility
