Travel Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) – 13-Week Contract in Odessa, Texas

Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,000–$2,100
  • Location: Odessa, Texas
  • Healthcare Setting: Operating Room; Level II trauma and community hospital
  • Schedule: Three 12-hour day shifts per week, approximately 6:30 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
  • Weekend Schedule: Friday through Sunday
  • Call: No call required
  • Start Date: October 27, 2026
  • Contract End Date: January 26, 2027
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Orientation: Approximately 3–4 days

Operating Room RN Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Texas
  • At least 1 year of professional nursing experience; 2–3 years of Operating Room or perioperative nursing experience strongly preferred
  • Operating Room experience supporting a broad range of procedures, including robotic, orthopedic, spine/neuro, general, gynecologic, ENT, ophthalmology, pain management, urology, vascular, and trauma cases
  • Experience with the Da Vinci XI robotic surgical system preferred
  • Level II trauma experience required; community hospital experience required
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Experience with Cerner electronic health records preferred
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
  • Strong knowledge of perioperative safety, sterile technique, specimen handling, surgical equipment, and universal protocol
  • Ability to care for patients across the lifespan, including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations

Travel OR Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, efficient Registered Nurse care throughout the perioperative experience
  • Prepare operating rooms, supplies, instruments, and equipment for scheduled surgical procedures
  • Support surgical teams during general, orthopedic, spine, vascular, trauma, robotic, gynecologic, urologic, ENT, ophthalmic, and other procedures
  • Apply appropriate infection prevention practices, sterile technique, and surgical safety protocols
  • Assist with patient positioning, surgical counts, specimen handling and labeling, electrosurgical equipment, and related perioperative processes
  • Monitor patients, recognize changes in condition, and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
  • Document patient care accurately using Cerner when applicable
  • Contribute to a respectful, team-oriented environment focused on excellent patient outcomes
