Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Operating Room RN for a night shift assignment requiring at least 2 years of pediatric OR experience and 2 prior travel contracts.

Details

• Pediatric General Operating Room setting within a children's hospital
• 8 total ORs, with only 2 operational overnight
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Weekend coverage required, likely limited to Friday nights
• No on-call requirements
• Overnight shifts limited to urgent/emergent add-on cases
• Floating within scope may be required if needed, though unlikely for this essential position
• Block scheduling may be accommodated at manager's discretion
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active SC or Compact RN license required
• BLS certification required (AHA certifications only)
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a pediatric setting required
• Minimum 2 prior traveler contracts required within this specialty setting
• Experience in peds and/or women's surgery preferred
• Skills in emergency management, code response, fire safety, latex allergy protocols, and malignant hyperthermia management required
• Social Security number and driver's license required for consideration
• First-time travelers not accepted for this position

Additional Information

• Provide perioperative nursing care within the pediatric general OR
• Radiation badge will be provided by parent company
• Candidates residing within 60 miles are considered local; non-local candidates are prioritized
• Local candidates may be considered at a reduced pay rate
• Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• All requested time off must be submitted at the time of application, with approval based on facility needs
• Traveler may be called off up to 10 hours per 2-week period
• During hurricane season (June through November, peaking in August and September), employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams
