Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Oncology RN for a night shift position at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring 1 year of oncology or med/surg oncology experience and a MO or compact RN license.

Details

  • Inpatient oncology unit at a short-term acute care, Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital
  • Cares for medical oncology patients with solid tumors including lung, breast, and pancreatic cancers
  • BMT unit available for experienced candidates with a 1:3 ratio for all shifts
  • Standard oncology ratios of 1:4-5
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Will float within service line to meet facility needs
  • Performs IV starts, port and central line access, trach care, and feeding tube management
  • Uses CAD infusion pumps
  • Charting completed in EPIC

Requirements

  • Active MO or compact RN license required (compact must match permanent residence)
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience, oncology or med/surg oncology background required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • BSN preferred
  • Must pass Relias EKG exam covering interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Skilled in IV therapy, port and central line care, PICC line care, and infusion pump management
  • Phlebotomy skills required
  • Chemotherapy administration and monitoring experience preferred but not required
  • BMT and stem cell transplant experience preferred but not required
  • Must be clean-shaven or have facial hair compatible with respirator fit testing

Additional Information

  • Provides direct patient care including chemotherapy support, port/line access, and post-treatment monitoring for oncology patients
  • Average patient length of stay is 3-5 days
  • Navy blue scrub color required
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • No local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius
  • No more than 7 days of RTO allowed per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week
  • Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
  • Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period before requiring a 3-month break in service
