Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for a BMT Oncology unit requiring chemotherapy certification and at least 1 year of oncology/chemo experience.

Details

  • Work in an inpatient BMT Oncology unit within a Magnet-designated, teaching, Level I Trauma hospital
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30)
  • Patient ratio of 4:1 across all shifts
  • Average daily census of 30 with 32 beds/rooms
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating required throughout the Oncology service line based on daily staffing needs
  • Care involves autologous stem cell transplants and chemotherapy administration
  • EPIC charting system used

Requirements

  • Active MO or compact RN license (compact must match permanent residence)
  • Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and Chemotherapy (ONS/ONCC)
  • Minimum 1 year of oncology/chemotherapy nursing experience required
  • Must pass Relias EKG exam covering interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Experience accessing and managing ports, central lines, PICC lines, and administering blood/blood products required
  • Skilled in telemetry monitoring and interpretation
  • Experience with Foley catheter insertion/management and isolation precautions required
  • Experience administering antibiotics and antiemetics required
  • Must be clean-shaven or have facial hair compatible with respirator fit testing

Additional Information

  • Provide direct care for BMT and oncology patients, including chemotherapy administration and management of oncologic emergencies
  • Administer chemotherapy via multiple routes and manage associated side effects and symptoms
  • Monitor for complications such as graft-versus-host disease, tumor lysis syndrome, and extravasation injury
  • Scrub color required is navy blue
  • First-time travelers will be considered for this position
  • Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
  • Maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
  • Travelers may work up to an 18-month tenure with a required 3-month break in service thereafter
  • Former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
