Registered Nurse - Urgent Care

MUST HAVE ACTIVE ALASKA LICENSE AT TIME OF SUBMITTAL

This position is within the Urgent Care Department and involves assisting patients and medical personnel while ensuring the overall operation of the clinic is efficient and effective.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality clinical services in collaboration with providers and clinic staff.
  • Maintain leadership within the clinic, ensuring efficient operations across all functions.
  • Manage medication inventory and supplies that are not part of the Warehouse PAR system.
  • Conduct necessary quality control checks with Point of Care tests.
  • Document all care and services accurately, completing nursing duties in a professional and timely manner.
  • Oversee the opening and closing procedures of provider clinics.
  • Anticipate the needs of providers and staff to facilitate quality patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with departments to ensure comprehensive support for patients and colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Current full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of urgent care experience is required.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Understanding of the nursing process and its application in practice.
  • Strong customer service principles.
  • Knowledge of safety and infection control practices.
  • Ability to complete assessments, anticipate needs, and perform specimen collection.
  • Proficient in using medical equipment and technology, including computers.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • A collaborative team-player mentality, with a willingness to mentor and teach.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proactive approach to seek assistance when faced with challenges.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee often stands, walks, sits, and uses hands to manipulate objects. Occasionally, the employee may need to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and must lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

Shift Details

Urgent care operates from 8 AM to 8 PM, with variable shifts across days and hours. Holiday coverage is required.
