Registered Nurse - Urgent Care

This position functions within the Urgent Care Department to assist patients and medical staff in an ambulatory care setting responsible for the overall operation of the clinic.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical services, collaborating with providers, clinic staff, and management to ensure high-quality care and efficient resource utilization.
  • Lead and direct clinic staff to ensure smooth operations, including front desk and patient care activities.
  • Manage medication inventory and supplies not listed in the Warehouse PAR system.
  • Conduct necessary quality control checks on Point of Care tests.
  • Document all care and services provided accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the opening and closing processes of provider clinics.
  • Assist providers and staff to anticipate their needs, ensuring efficient and quality patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments to support patients, providers, and fellow staff members.

Qualifications

  • Current full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of urgent care experience.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proficiency in applying the nursing process in a clinical environment.
  • Understanding of customer service principles.
  • Knowledge of safety and infection control principles.
  • Skills in conducting assessments, anticipating needs, and specimen collection.
  • Experience in utilizing medical equipment and computer systems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong team player mentality.
  • Willingness to provide teaching when appropriate.
  • Ability to problem-solve and employ critical thinking skills to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently stands, walks, sits, and uses hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls and must lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

Shift Information

Urgent care hours are from 8 AM to 8 PM. Shifts may vary across days and hours. Holiday coverage is required.
