    Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry / Med-Surg

    Location

    Tacoma, WA | Acute Care

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Full-Time | Days | 12-Hour Shifts | Every Other Weekend Required | 1–2 Winter Holidays Required

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care across a Med/Surg and Telemetry division spanning multiple specialty units, including surgical, neuro, ortho/spine, cardiac, oncology, and general medical floors
    • Manage 4–5 patients per shift with support from CNAs; float across all Med/Surg and Telemetry units within the division as needed based on staffing requirements
    • Titrate drips per Med/Surg guidelines, including Insulin, Heparin, Nitroglycerin, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Cardizem; escalate to critical care when parameters are reached
    • Verify telemetry strip readings in collaboration with remote telemetry monitoring technicians
    • Manage patients requiring CPAP, BiPAP, and tracheostomy care; no ventilator management required on this unit
    • May be assigned as a CNA or entrance screener when operationally necessary, consistent with expectations for all staff
    Required Qualifications
    • Active RN licensure in Washington State or compact license eligibility
    • Current BLS certification required
    • Minimum 2 years of acute care experience
    • Ability and willingness to float throughout the entire Med/Surg and Telemetry division, and potentially to additional facilities within the region
    • Candidates must not have been employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any associated CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year
    • Must be available for on-call/standby up to 4 times during the contract duration
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience with telemetry monitoring and strip interpretation
    • Familiarity with drip titration protocols in a Med/Surg setting
    • Experience caring for diverse patient populations including surgical, neurological, orthopedic, cardiac, and oncology patients
    • Comfort working in a high-volume, multi-unit float environment
