    Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry / Med-Surg

    Location

    Tacoma, WA | Acute Care

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Full-Time | 12-Hour Night Shifts | Every Other Weekend Required | 1–2 Winter Holidays Required

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care across a multi-unit Med/Surg and Telemetry division, covering specialties including surgical, neuro, ortho/spine, cardiac, oncology, and general medical cases
    • Manage a patient assignment of 4–5 patients per shift; may be assigned to CNA duties if RN staffing requires it, consistent with staff expectations
    • Titrate drips per Med/Surg guidelines, including Insulin, Heparin, Nitroglycerin, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Cardizem; transfer patients to critical care if maximum rates are reached
    • Verify telemetry strip readings as interpreted by remote telemetry techs; manage patients on CPAP, BiPap, and trach as applicable
    • Float as needed throughout the full Med/Surg and Telemetry division, including ER Transition Unit areas (ERT, CDU, MSW); may also float to alternate regional facilities with applicable rate differential
    • Participate in on-call/standby requirements up to 4 times during the contract duration; take scheduled breaks as offered per unit policy
    Required Qualifications
    • Active RN license valid in the state of Washington
    • Current BLS certification required
    • Minimum 2 years of acute care experience
    • Ability and willingness to float across all Med/Surg and Telemetry units within the division and, if needed, to alternate regional facilities
    • Candidates must not have been employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience with titratable drip management in a Med/Surg or step-down setting
    • Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and strip verification
    • Experience caring for diverse patient populations including neuro, ortho, cardiac, oncology, and surgical patients
    • Comfort working in high-flexibility, multi-unit environments with variable assignments
