Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (6:00 PM – 6:00 AM) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care across a MedSurg/Telemetry unit with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, floating between a surgical/orthopedic/medical unit and a higher-acuity cardiac-focused stepdown unit as needed
- Monitor and interpret telemetry strips using Phillips monitoring system with support from an on-site monitor technician; nurse strip reading is required
- Manage patients on cardiac and vasoactive drips including amiodarone, heparin, cardizem, fixed-rate insulin, nitroglycerin, and dopamine (renal dosing only)
- Care for a diverse patient population including post-cath, post-pacemaker, post-PCI, TAVR (day 1+), CABG (day 1+), sepsis, and respiratory distress patients
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy (available 24/7), hospitalist/intensivist (on-call after hours), and nurse aides to deliver comprehensive patient care
- Document and manage patient care using Cerner EMR; participate in weekend and holiday rotations in alignment with permanent staff scheduling
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license valid in the state of California
- ACLS certification required
- BLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Proficiency with Cerner EMR
- Ability to float between unit assignments and work every other weekend (4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in a telemetry, stepdown, or cardiac unit setting
- Familiarity with Phillips telemetry monitoring systems and strip interpretation
- Experience managing high-acuity cardiac patients including post-surgical cardiac recovery (TAVR, CABG, PCI)
- Comfort with BiPAP/CPAP patients in a non-vented environment
