Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a high-acuity, fast-paced cardiac and stroke telemetry unit with patient ratios of 1:5–6
- Manage cardiac patients including stable pre/post care for pacemaker implantation, implanted cardioverter/defibrillators, cardiac catheterization, unstable angina, CHF, dysrhythmias, CVA, and TIA
- Initiate IVs and administer and titrate cardiac drips including Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone
- Monitor telemetry and pulse oximetry; manage patients on non-rebreather masks, high-flow O2, and chronic BiPAP use
- Utilize unit systems including Pyxis, Dimensions (Epic), and SBAR communication
- Participate in on-call rotation and float as required; expected schedule includes every other weekend, 2 Mondays, and 2 Fridays per 6-week period
Required Qualifications
- Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending licensure acceptable at time of submission)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in telemetry or a comparable high-acuity setting
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale
- Proficiency in IV starts, telemetry monitoring, cardiac drip management, and care of pre/post procedure cardiac patients including PCI
- Comfort managing a patient load of up to 6 patients in a high-volume, fast-paced environment with frequent patient turnover
- Candidates within 50 miles of the facility are welcome to apply; local candidates are accepted at the same posted rate
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred; first-time travelers will be considered
- Experience titrating Cardizem drips and managing TR bands and post-interventional peripheral vascular procedure patients
- Familiarity with Epic (Dimensions) electronic health records
- Experience caring for patients requiring opti-flow or BiPAP in a surge or COVID-designated unit environment
