    Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry

    Location

    Redding, CA | Acute Care

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Night Shift | 12-hour shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Schedules made approximately 3 weeks in advance | Self-scheduling available (by seniority) | Shift trades available

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care on a 22-bed Telemetry unit with a 1:3–4 nurse-to-patient ratio, with common diagnoses including stroke, TIA, seizure, TBI, and mixed medical telemetry patients
    • Read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips independently; passing a dysrhythmia exam is required
    • Manage set-rate and protocol-driven drips including Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, and DKA protocols (titration of drips is not required)
    • Operate and monitor respiratory support equipment including BiPAP, CPAP, and High-Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC); no ventilator management required
    • Conduct bedside shift reports with a strong focus on patient experience, HCAHPS scores, and core measures — specifically stroke measures
    • Float as needed to the IMCU or Med/Surg departments
    Required Qualifications
    • Active RN license valid in California
    • ACLS certification required
    • BLS certification required
    • NIHSS certification required
    • Minimum 2–3 years of Telemetry or relevant specialty experience; first-time travelers are welcome to apply
    • Ability to read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips; must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to or during onboarding
    • 4 weekend shifts expected per 4-week schedule (Nights: Friday/Saturday); holiday shifts worked into permanent staff rotation
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience with Cerner EMR
    • Familiarity with GE Apex Telemetry monitoring systems
    • Background in neurological or stroke patient populations
    • Self-motivated, team-oriented, and committed to patient experience and quality care initiatives
