Job Title: IMC/Tele RN - Cardiac/Tele/Dialysis Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: IMC/Tele RN - Cardiac/Tele/Dialysis Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years recent RN experience in a busy hospital environment License: Active RN license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Experience with post-procedural cardiac catheterization lab patients Management of TR band compression devices Experience managing chest pain Experience with post-cardiac surgical patients Description: The position involves working on a stepdown unit specializing in cardiac and tele patients. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 on day shifts through 2300 and 1:5-6 on night shifts after 2300. Common diagnoses include cardiac medical and surgical cases such as stent placements, pacemakers, and coronary artery bypass grafting. RNs are required to titrate drips, including nitroglycerin, heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone, lasix, bumex, and dobutamine. There is a 24/7 central telemetry unit that monitors all non-critical care patients. A charge nurse will have a modified assignment during shifts. Nurse aides are present on the unit with varying ratios depending on the time of day. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. Nurses are responsible for incentive spirometry, while respiratory therapists assist with CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow devices. Self-scheduling is not available; block scheduling may be an option based on unit needs. Weekend and holiday work is required every other rotation. Floating to other units may be necessary based on census needs. Scrubs are not provided, and there is no specific dress code for scrub colors.
