Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry

Job Description

This position is for a Registered Nurse specialized in Telemetry, working within a fast-paced unit focused on the care of adult to geriatric patients. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, although first-time travelers are welcome to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with various diagnoses, including but not limited to CHF, MI/chest pain (pre- and post-cath), dysrhythmias (pre- and post-device implants), hypo-/hypertension, pleural effusion, sepsis, PE/DVT, and vascular issues.
  • Monitor and interpret telemetry readings to quickly identify changes in patient condition.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Document patient information and care provided in Epic and participate in team communication using SBAR.

Unit Information

  • Telemetry unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5.
  • Total of 16 rooms in the unit.
  • Must be familiar with Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR systems.

Certifications Required

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • National Institutes of Health (NIH) Stroke Scale certification

Scheduling and Availability

  • Shift: Night, 3x12 hours (19:00 - 07:00).
  • Request time off (RTO) is a maximum of 7 days.
  • Every other weekend is required unless specified otherwise.
  • Traveling nurses may float within the facility as needed, adhering to their scope of practice.
  • No call requirements for this role.
  • Working on holidays is expected if within the assignment period; specifics include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve/Day.

Compliance Requirements

  • Full compliance is required to start on time. Delays in compliance will result in a pushback of 2 weeks due to the bi-weekly orientation schedule.

Pre-Screening Process

Candidates will undergo a clinical pre-screening to assess their fit for the unit. If the clinical assessment is successful and meets the guidelines, the candidate will be forwarded to management for a final decision.
