Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale certification Must-Have: One previous successful travel nursing assignment 30 months RN or LPN nursing experience Ability to care for 6 telemetry patients/post-cardiac procedures, including PCI, PPM, ICD, or ablations Proficient in reading telemetry strips Time management skills, including planning of care every shift, collaboration with physicians and ancillary departments Discharge planning and patient education Description: Traveler shall be scheduled in accordance with facility policy. Travelers are expected to work every other weekend and holidays in rotation with hospital employees. The unit has 29 beds with a patient ratio of 1:6. Staff consists of registered nurses. The type of equipment includes mobile phones for each care team member, mobile computer workstations on wheels, and mobile labs for lab drawers. Documentation is performed using an electronic system. Travelers must adhere to a 3-12 hour shifts per week requirement with every other weekend included. Travelers are the first to float and may be sent to care for inpatient holds in the emergency department. Travelers may also work in the telemetry monitoring room or progressive care unit. Bedside shift report is the method of patient handoff. AIDET and RN/MD rounding are utilized for patient experience. Advanced skills required include phlebotomy and administration of respiratory treatments outside of the ICU. Nurses will be responsible for Foley catheter care and maintenance. Management of cardiac drips, including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, and Dobutamine is required. The unit performs specialized procedures as needed. Dress code includes a navy uniform.
