Patient ratios are 4:1 with cath recovery, and 6:1 max ratio. At times, ratios may be stretched to 7:1. PCTS are available on day and night shifts. Unit Clerks are available on day shift. Equipment includes remote telemetry monitors and Alaris pumps. Documentation is done through Meditech. Scheduling requires every other weekend. Agency floats first, may float to Ortho/Med-Surg. The unit strives for a 75% patient satisfaction rate. Procedures performed on the unit include chest tube insertions, bedside paracentesis, and thoracentesis. Dress code includes any scrubs except camo. Unit guidelines include Telemetry Monitoring Policy and Stroke Policy. The department holds Daisy and Bee award certificates. There is a monthly STAR award winner voted on by the staff.
