Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Surgical Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in specialty required License: Compact or state license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Certificate Must-Have: High acuity ICU experience Epic experience required Preferred experience with PA catheters and balloon pumps Description: This position involves working in a high acuity ICU setting. The patient ratio is 1:2. Float requirements to other ICUs and step-down units apply. The unit provides care for various patient populations, including cardiac surgery and transplant patients. Candidates must have experience in caring for post-operative patients and managing complex medical conditions. Required skills include but are not limited to managing ventilated patients, blood product administration, and monitoring renal and cardiac patients. Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy is necessary. All candidates must be comfortable with emergency team assignments as needed. Strong documentation and charting skills are essential. This role demands the ability to manage patients experiencing multi-system organ dysfunction. Team collaboration with interdisciplinary support services is crucial. Weekend coverage is required. The unit also handles patients necessitating advanced surgical procedures and therapies. This role is suitable for travel nurses with prior intensive care experience. Candidates with experience in transplant recovery are preferred.
