Compensation & Schedule Details
- Hours & Shift: 36 guaranteed hours per week (12-hour Days, though VMS shift mapping indicates nights/days rotation; confirm upon interview). 48-hour contracts available upon request (OT goes into effect after 52 hours on 48-hour contracts). Bi-weekly orientation starting November 2, 2026.
- Contract Length: 13 weeks.
- Weekend & Holiday Requirements: Every third weekend; every other holiday.
- Distance & Attendance Rules: Strict 40-mile radius rule (no local candidates). Maximum of 3 call-ins permitted before termination. Headshot required for badge during compliance.
Key Facility Policies & Floating Rules
- Cross-Campus Floating: First to float within skillset. May float to Deaconess Newburgh or Deaconess Gateway campuses in Indiana with a 2-hour notice.
- Unit Scope & Ratios: 10-bed SDU (Day ratio 1:4–5; Night ratio 1:5–6) and 15-bed Tele unit (Day ratio 1:5–6; Night ratio 1:6). Charting via Epic (requires check-off class). Teaching facility—may require precepting of students and new hires. Navy blue scrubs required.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years as an RN (including 1 solid year of stepdown/PCU experience) and 1 prior travel assignment required.
- Clinical Skills: Required to pass telemetry/12-lead EKG test. Must be able to initiate and titrate insulin, heparin, and cardiac drips. Preferred skills include PIV insertion, chest tube/drain management, and blood product administration.
- Licensure: Active compact RN license in hand.
- Certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS required at submittal.
