Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Nursing - Emergency Services to provide strategic, operational, financial, and clinical leadership for a busy Emergency Department. This leadership role carries 24-hour accountability for departmental operations, quality outcomes, staff development, patient satisfaction, and organizational performance.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Emergency Department nursing leadership, operational improvement, and driving positive patient care outcomes in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 24-hour leadership and oversight of Emergency Services operations.
  • Direct and coordinate clinical, operational, and financial activities within the department.
  • Lead nursing staff recruitment, retention, mentoring, and professional development.
  • Monitor and improve patient satisfaction, quality metrics, and employee engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and patient safety standards.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Lead change management initiatives and process improvement projects.
  • Manage departmental budgets, staffing plans, and resource allocation.
  • Support patient flow optimization and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Oversee department growth, expansion planning, and implementation activities.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and patient-centered care.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility for state licensure.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of progressive healthcare leadership experience.
  • Previous Emergency Department leadership experience required.
  • Strong operational, financial, and team leadership skills.
  • Experience managing quality improvement and patient satisfaction initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or related field.
  • Certification in Nursing Leadership or Emergency Nursing specialty.
